You might be surprised that credit cards have been used in the US since the 1920s. They were used by merchants to sell fuel to the growing number of automobile owners.
Since then many credit card companies have come and gone. Some have remained to become some of the largest and most well known corporations in America.
Below is a partial list of credit card companies currently operating:
Orchard Bank: They offer cards if you need help creating or repairing your credit history. Millions of establishments accept the cards while allowing you an opportunity to build up your credit.
American Express (AE): As with many of these companies, AE offers many different credit cards with many different features to select from. They include rewards cards, flexible payment cards, membership cards and travel cards.
Visa: Visa cards are known for the benefits that are automatically available to the cardholder. These include an auto rental collision damage waiver, emergency card replacement and zero fraud liability.
Mastercard: Services offered by Mastercard include shopping protection, travel assistance and many other rewards and benefits.
Discover: Cash back bonus rewards is one of the hallmarks of the Discover card. No annual fee and a 0% APR can also be offered to those who have good credit. As with many other cards, you can choose the card design.
Citibank: Consumers and students can receive cash back, savings and travel and everyday purchase rewards. The wide variety of cards includes no annual fee, rewards and low ongoing interest rate cards.
Chase: The most popular cards from Chase are Chase Freedom. Slate from Chase and Chase Sapphire. The features include rewards, cash back, travel and low rate interest rates.
Iberiabank: This card is good if you are seeking to transfer balances. That’s because of the low interest rate they offer for a six month introductory period.
First PREMIER Bank: This bank offers both secured and unsecured fee-based credit cards. In addition to providing the opportunity to build better credit, these cards have many benefits for the cardholders.
Simmons First National: One of the lowest interest rates along with no annual fee, travel insurance and emergency cash and credit card replacement, make this a valuable card.
You will notice that many credit card companies are banks and other financial institutions. You’ll also notice that there are several cards and companies that you can chose from for your next credit card. However, the best deals will only be available for you if you have very good credit history.
